People gather together to participate in various events such as cultural, sports, religious etc. Many issues arise due to the crowd at various social events. The crowd may themselves be active or provide oral support to their leader or be silent observer without any action. The potential drawbacks of the crowd could include the greater probability of mishaps, rise in potential number of victims, hinderance to communication, difficult to make or control actions, and reduced responsibility. An individual in a crowd could lose self control and become a mindless puppet. The individual, controlled by the crowd\u2019s leader, is capable of performing any act, whether it is heroic or destructive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Panics<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Panic is due to the lack of communications, previous knowledge and experience. People in a crowd panic group from a real or perceived threat when they realise it to be the only effective response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Crazes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Craze <\/em>in a group is the temporary, short-lived competitive rush by a group toward some attractive object. A craze tends to occur on entering an event, and may be exacerbated by the lack of information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3. De-individualization<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    De-individualization <\/em>is a loss of self-awareness and evaluation apprehension in group situations that foster anonymity. Behavior may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u2022 Mild lessening of restraint (e.g., screaming during a concert);<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u2022 Impulsive self-gratification (e.g., theft, vandalism, molestation); or<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u2022 Destructive social explosions (e.g., group violence, rioting and torturing).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4. Defusing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The tedium that may be created by waiting and\/or by the perception that other gates are being opened first, or later arrivals are being admitted first, can create problems. The following can help defuse the situation: appropriate music, the use of humor, food and beverage services moving through the group, cheerful security staff moving through the group, and good communication that includes a public address system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
